Airport Shuttle

The SPLC organization has established a fellowship with transportation professionals. Conference attendants may schedule a transportation service from the airport to the hotel (fee not included in the conference registration). We have made an agreement with two service providers. Both options are safe and reliable:

(1) A taxi service, by Mr. Denivaldo;

(2) A service from a transportation company, SK TURISMO.

(1) For the taxi service, Mr. Denivaldo will charge R$45 (brazilian reais) per trip. The size of the taxi cab will vary depending on the number of participants that are scheduled for the same arrival time. Mr. Denivaldo will be waiting for your arrival with a SPLC sign, and will take cash as payment as soon as you get to the hotel. If you have questions, or if would like to schedule for this service, please send and email to Hugo Andrade (hugosica [at] dcc [dot] ufba [dot] br) with the subject "[SPLC 2012] Transportation", telling who you are and where you are coming from. The email should contain the following information regarding your arrival in Salvador:

       - Name of the passengers

       - Number of passengers

       - Date and time

       - Airline

       - Flight number

(2) For the company service, the prices will vary according to the number of passengers. If you need specific information on the receipt for refunding purposes, they can make an arrangement for this. For more details on this service and for scheduling, please send an email to Karine Brandão (skturismo [at] skturismo [dot] com [dot] br) with the subject "[SPLC 2012] Transportation", or call +55 71 3230-9302 office hours. Salvador

Walking on the streets of the Historical District of Salvador is like being taken back to the ancient times of Brazilian History. The tour guides are very well prepared to explain how the colonization of this city happened. Until 1763, Salvador was the capital of the Portuguese Crown in Americas, besides being the main port of the southern hemisphere until the eighteenth century.  With an extensive shoreline and a constant year round temperature (around 25º C/ 77º F), Salvador is an invitation to outdoor leisure activities.

The city's tropical climate is enhanced by steady gentle breeze blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean and the All Saints' Bay. With approximately 50km of beaches and one third of the shores of the All Saints' Bay, Salvador is the ideal location for relaxing seaside vacations and the practice of water sports.

Salvador is considered the cultural capital of Brazil. Its people is formed by native Americans, Portuguese and Africans and present a unique ethnic and cultural diversity that stands out for its harmonious and democratic coexistence, rarely found in the world today.

The particular traits of each ethnic group that forms the city's population create original music, dance and many other artistic and cultural expressions. For useful numbers, gastronomy, and other aspects of Salvador, please check http://www.bahia.com.br/en/node/700
